Studio ARTES, in partnership with Hornsby Westfield and Hornsby Shire Council, annually presents a fun way to celebrate International Day of People living with Disability at our challenge day “Ride a Day in My Wheels”. At Ride a Day in My Wheels, Studio ARTES enlists community members to take part and look at life from a wheelchair-user and fulfil a list of physical and mental tasks to raise funds and awareness of the challenges faced on a daily basis by people living with disability. “Ride a Day in My Wheels” showcased the Studio ARTES Performing Arts team with live performances throughout the day, as well as market stalls selling Studio ARTES products and artwork, sausage sizzles, balloons, face painting and more!

Focus on Ability
Short Film Festival

Studio ARTES entered the 2016 Open Documentary ‘Focus on Ability’ Short Film Festival. The ‘Focus on Ability’ short film festival asks film makers to ‘Focus on the Ability’ of people with a disability and tell a story on film for the world to view.

I Am was created about Studio ARTES Performing Arts members in wake of a devastating fire that destroyed our studio and costumes, props, makeup and equipment. Our performers displayed not only resilience and dedication but an unprecedented optimism, clarity and strength of character that defines them as individuals. This sensibility is articulated through their dancing.

Everyone starring in this film is an accomplished performer and member of Studio ARTES. The film follows the Studio ARTES performers as they prepare for the 2016 mid-year major production.

Film produced by ‘Insomnia’.
